Font Analysis

Collision Imminant
We thought this font would not suit our genre as it is too much like a child's handwriting. We want something that stands out and represents our genre of rock correctly.
Collision Imminant
This is a nice font but it is far too fancy for our genre. It looks slightly girly which is the complete opposite to what we want. It would stand out but it is not the right style.

Collision Imminant

This font type is better as it is bold and simple. However, it does not stand out enough as it is a bit boring. It could represent our genre in the sense that it is bold plain black but we do not like it enough.

Collision Imminant
This font is too cartoony and it is very unclear which is not good when you want something to stand out at you. Howver, it is quite cool and unique but it would not suit our genre particulaly well.

Collision Imminant
This font is probably the best, it is bold which stands out, but it is not too boring and can represent our genre reasonably well. It would stand out on the shelves.

Magazine research

From research, I have found that Kerrang! would be a suitable magazine for my band to appear in. In this magazine many rock, punk rock, metal and alternative rock bands are advertised. They have featured bands such as Alien Ant Farm and Linkin Park.
NME would also be a suitable magazine to advertise my band, it has featured artists such as Blink 182 and The All American Rejects.
Another Magaine is Q magazine, they vary in who they advertise in their magzines from Emminem to Green Day if an Ad was published here many people would see the ad but they might not be our target audience.
But these are big magazines and if my band was to start off small making its way up smaller more idependant magazines would be more suitable:
Another suitable magazine is The big takeover magazine, which is an independantly produced rock magazine.

Drafts

Here are three short clips that we decided not to use:
1. This originally was going to be at the end of our music video. We look this out because we made changes to our story board. Originally the story was that the main character was leaving someone because of such reasons as drink and drugs and he lost them. we thought that this would be an effective way to end the story. But since then we changed the story so that he is cheating on a partner "there are some things i don't want you to know" referring to another partner. So we thought it best that this clip didn't serve a purpose in this new story.
2. The second is a clip of what originally in our story board was going to be the girl in the story lip syncing the words and singing along, but because we changed the story and decided to use two different girls to tell a different story, this bit became too confusing and thus did not use it. We also found that when we put it all together it looked 'weird' and did not look natural (see rough cut to see full clip).
3. The third and final clip we didn't use because it isn't very clear what is happening on screen  and we thought that it would look better if the movements were slower and more effective.

Peer Assensment

Good points
  • Lip syncing was good
  • Good use of Green Screen
  • Range of shot types
  • Lots of different effects
  • Good use of colours
  • Good use of band instruments
  • Good characters
  • Good narrative
Improvements
  • More transitions
  • Acting not so good
  • Maybe too many effects
  • More variety of locations
  • Framing needs to be sorted
  • More lighting
  • The band scene is a bit long
In conclusion, we have some good lip syncing and effects but we need to work on some more transitions and getting the framing so there are no doors to be seen!

Rough Cut

This is our music video in progress, dated 4th November. This isn't our final video, many things were changed  as you will see once the final music video is uploaded. There are many problems with this, for example from 0.54-0.59 the background of the green screen ins't very appropriate for my genre of music. And almost all the lip syncing in front of the white looks tacky apart from the extreme close up of the mouth. Another problem is that from 1.50-2.01, it is very repetitive and alwell as not having the correct mise-en-scene for my music genre/song. But this was helpful when filming the rest of the music video because we knew what we needed to film and what needed to be improved.
